Dorothy Nelson, DDS
Dr. Dorothy Nelson is a board-certified pediatric dentist who is delighted to join Han Pediatric Dentistry and care for children and families in the San Francisco community.
Dr. Nelson earned both her undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Washington before completing her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Her training included extensive experience caring for children with special healthcare needs in a hospital setting and helped shape her interest in the connection between oral health and a child’s overall health and development.
In practice, Dr. Nelson takes a thoughtful, whole-child approach to pediatric oral health. While caring for children’s teeth is at the heart of what she does, she believes pediatric dentists have a unique opportunity to understand the bigger picture of a child’s health and development. Depending on each child’s individual needs, she may ask families about birth and feeding history, oral habits, breathing, sleep, and other factors that may be relevant to their oral health.
Most importantly, Dr. Nelson loves getting to know children and their families and strives to create a dental experience where every child feels comfortable, respected, and heard.
